I know this is an oft-referenced video in business books, but nevertheless very few people seem to apply it to their own behavior. Instead, they keep thinking that if they continue to do it the way everybody else does, the way they’ve been told things work, they will eventually succeed. Eventually they give up, and (in the case of theater people) go into higher education, where they teach their students the same damn thing that didn’t work for them. It is The Myth of Sisyphus of education.
Buckminster Fuller said “Dare to be naive.” Start there. He also said ““You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
In other words, dance and keep dancing.
