I propose a change in the way that journalists report on movies. Instead of telling us how much was made at the box office on opening weekend ( “Project Hail Mary made $80M at the box office on opening weekend”), it should be reported proportionally (Project Hail Mary made 40% of its production costs"). This would de-emphasize blockbusters and instead draw our attention to sustainability. Our film industry (and theater industry, for that matter) have forgotten that small films can be profitable more easily than blockbusters, and might provide a deeper, though less “spectacular,” way of building our culture.

Our obsession with Bigness in all things is destroying our world and our minds.
