Finished reading: Witness for the Dead by Katherine Addison 📚

I found this book, like its predecessor, The Goblin Emperor, thoroughly enjoyable. These are books in a fantasy world, but the stories themselves are recognizable genres. Witness for the Dead is, essentially, a detective story in which the “detective” is a religious figure whose job is being a witness for the dead, meaning they can receive information from the dead by touching their head. The Goblin Emperor was essentially a court intrigue about the ascension of an unexpected heir to the throne when the expected heirs are killed together in a plane crash. There is no real violence in either, and the central characters in both novels succeed because of their honesty and integrity. Recommended.
